95th/Dan Ryan (or simply 95th) is a station on the CTA's Red Line. It is located at 95th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway. It serves not only CTA Red Line trains, but also Metra SouthEast Service trains, which use electric multiple units compatible with third rail. This was the terminal for Red Line trains until March 11th, 2016, the same day Metra SouthEast Service began. The station underwent a major renovation from 2014 to 2018, with the station being temporarily closed from late 2016 to completion. During this time, a temporary platform at 93rd street operated. That platform is now abandoned.
95th/Dan Ryan was the southern terminal for Red Line trains until 12:00 AM, Saturday, September 17th, 2016, when the Red Line Extension to 130th Street opened, complete with 3 new elevated stations. The final Red Line train terminating at 95th/Dan Ryan arrived at 95th/Dan Ryan at 11:53 PM, with the inaugural Red Line Extension train arriving at 95th/Dan Ryan at 12:00 AM. At the same time the yard and shops at 95th/Dan Ryan were closed due to them being replaced by a new yard at 115th Street and Michigan Avenue. All the railcars stored at 95th Yard were relocated to 115th Street Yard by October 1st, 2016. The shops were not demolished. The shops were shuttered, however they can be reactivated in the case of an emergency at 115th Yard. The yard's tracks were taken out of the ground, and were sent to a stockpiling area for use as spare tracks. Five sets of tracks were left for entrance into the shops.
95th/Dan Ryan connects to many Pace and CTA bus routes. It served Greyhound until January 1, 2016, when Greyhound was shut down.
