The Forest Park branch is a section of CTA's Blue Line. The branch stretches from Halsted Street at the UIC-Halsted station through the Edens Expressway to Forest Park Road at the Forest Park station. The branch underwent a major reconstruction from April to September 2016, completely rebuilding the stretch of track from United Center-Medical District to Forest Park.
The Forest Park branch has been long neglected by repairs and most of its stations had abandoned entrances/exits and very few were ADA-accessible. Instead of doing weekend-only closures, the CTA decided to shut down the Forest Park branch from United Center-Medical District to Forest Park and reroute Blue Line trains to 54th/Cermak from April 17th to September 17th, 2016.
